TLD or also know as the top level domain is a domain extension, there are many TLDs which are available online, usually .com domains are more common and the most popular for commercial and business use specially while .org domains are for nonprofit organizations. This format gives your website a credibility because .org domain built is on the basis of trust and loyalty. It's the domain commonly used for organizations dedicated to no profit humanitarian work.
So, a more popular extension domain drives more high and organic traffic as users often write it by default and it is more easy to remember. Other popular choices are .net, .io, .inc, dev and more.
However, a less popular extension, such as .online, .xyz, .club is often less expensive and you can use these domain befitting your business style. With the current increase of new websites which is being created daily, the popularity of a top-level domain might also evolve in the future.
A country-code top-level domain is a country specific domain extension to a particular country. The ccTLD domain uses two letters based on the international country code. For example, example.com can be universal for everyone in the world while example.us is specifically for America and example.uk is for United Kingdom and example.de is for Germany.

A generic top-level domain is a domain extension that does not need any country code. There are no specific basis to obtain a gTLD domain address. But some domain extensions are sponsored by some of the designated agencies or organizations. But you need to be careful not to confuse the visitors, as some domains have certain associations entangled to it. For an instance, the .org domain extension is associated with the sites of organizations.
Some generic top level domains are reserved for specific types of registrants. For example, developers.example.com shows that that section of domain is for developers of that particular example domain.
